We have spared no effort researching across the country and beyond to lovingly craft a menu of exceptional food. Our menu development team along with our executive chef have trained, worked, and immersed themselves in the Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument restaurant, where Willard’s Far-Famed Chicken Steak Dinners opened in 1929, the Brown Derby Car Café became a signature restaurant in 1940s, Michael’s Restaurant was a local landmark from the 1960s to the early 1990s, and The Backyard, which was born there in its actual backyard, was opened in 2020.

Our executive chef and our front leader have dedicated over two decades to serving this community, primarily based at this location. In the past, this establishment housed CP Bakeries from 1987 to 2009, Pho Basil Leaf Cuisine from 2009 to 2016, Beach Burgers and Brews from 2016 to 2019, then Kailua Hawaiian Grill and SB Chicken Co from 2019 to 2022. We appreciate their continuous improvements at this location which shaped it to its current condition. In August 2022, The Backyard found its home here after relocating from its Los Angeles backyard site. In November 2023, we introduced lalc Restaurant & Bar (The Backyard) to reflect our Los Angeles origins and local approaches.

Here, at lalc Restaurant & Bar (The Backyard), whenever possible, we select ingredients that are organic, all-natural, and non-GMO, no added hormones, and no antibiotics. We source locally, opting to use fresh options. We also seek to utilize as few ingredients as possible to present food in its most natural form, and we house made almost everything we serve you. Our commitment to quality underscores our dedication to crafting delicious and flavorful dishes.
